First-Time Waxing Tips at Olive Glow Esthetics
Getting your first wax can be a little nerve-wracking, but at Olive Glow Esthetics, we’re here to make the experience as comfortable and smooth as possible. Here are some helpful tips to prepare for your first waxing session

Before Your Appointment
- Let It Grow: Make sure your hair is at least ¼ inch long (about the size of a grain of rice) for the wax to grip properly. Avoid shaving for at least two weeks before your appointment.
- Exfoliate Gently: Exfoliate the area 24-48 hours before your wax to remove dead skin cells. This helps prevent ingrown hairs and ensures a smoother waxing process.
- Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol: These
can tighten pores and increase skin sensitivity. Opt for water instead to stay hydrated and relaxed.

During Your Appointment
- Relax and Breathe: Tension can make the experience more uncomfortable. Take deep breaths and trust your esthetician to guide you through the process.
- Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to ask about the process, products used, or aftercare tips. We’re here to educate and help you feel at ease.

After Your Appointment
- Hands Off: Avoid touching the freshly waxed area to reduce the risk of irritation or infection.
- Avoid Heat and Sweating: Skip the gym, saunas, hot showers, and tanning for at least 24-48 hours. Heat and sweat can irritate open hair follicles.
- Exfoliate and Moisturize: Gently exfoliate 2-3 days after waxing to prevent ingrown hairs, then continue 2-3 times weekly. Keep the area moisturized with a fragrance-free lotion or oil.
- Stay Comfy: Wear loose-fitting clothing to minimize friction and irritation on the waxed area.
- Consistency is Key: To maintain smooth results and reduce discomfort, schedule regular waxing sessions every 4-6 weeks.
